Bringing together a diverse pool of talent around a single shared table, our company is built on open, ongoing conversation. Founded in 1992 by Trey Trahan, the firm is intimate in size but broad in its scope. We engage in a collective questioning of how our process and work can contribute to the health of our ecologies, cities and economies. Each member of the Trahan team is an integral part of a collaborative process that enriches our company culture and improves the quality of our work.
Julia Gamolina is dedicated to the built environment and the visibility of the women who work in it. With expertise in design, communications, and business development, Julia is the Director of Strategy at Trahan Architects, focusing on new business and all aspects of firm growth.
Julia is also the Founder and Editor of MadameArchitect.org, an online publication focusing on the women that advance the practice of architecture. Thus far, she has published over 90 interviews with architects and designers, as well as CEOs, publicists, journalists, business developers, lawyers, and more. Her writing has also been featured in The Architect’s Newspaper, Architizer, and Metropolis Magazine.
In June 2019, Julia received the Special Citation from AIANY for her work with Madame Architect, and was named one of Professional Women in Construction’s Top 20 Under 40. Julia received her Bachelor of Architecture at Cornell University, graduating with the Charles Goodwin Sands Memorial Medal for exceptional merit in the thesis of architecture. She is based in New York City, with roots in Novosibirsk and Toronto. In her spare time, you can find her running in Central Park.
