Bringing together a diverse pool of talent around a single shared table, our company is built on open, ongoing conversation. Founded in 1992 by Trey Trahan, the firm is intimate in size but broad in its scope. We engage in a collective questioning of how our process and work can contribute to the health of our ecologies, cities and economies. Each member of the Trahan team is an integral part of a collaborative process that enriches our company culture and improves the quality of our work.
She received her Master’s in Architecture from the University of Virginia following undergraduate studies in fine arts. During graduate school she focused on parametric design and digital fabrication, and in addition to her role as a teaching assistant, she helped develop a series of parametric design courses. She received the Design Excellence Award for her academic work at UVA, and she received the Thesis Award for her design proposal titled “Water and Whiskey on the River,” a municipal water treatment plant, distillery, and public water park along the southwestern bank of the James River in Richmond.
Following graduate school, Sarah worked in Brooklyn at a research, design and fabrication studio where she was involved with a number of high-profile international projects. She later worked in Philadelphia at an award-winning emerging architecture firm, focusing on educational and hospitality work.
At Trahan Architects she has deepened her involvement in fabrication through the design and production of the Magnolia Mound Visitor Center display cases in collaboration with TriPyramid Structures. Other projects that she has worked on include the design of the Creole Town Homes project, the Jung Hotel Renovation, and the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau Renovation.
She continues to maintain her fine arts practice, and it anchors her architectural work with an enduring focus on materiality and form in the built environment.
