Bringing together a diverse pool of talent around a single shared table, our company is built on open, ongoing conversation. Founded in 1992 by Trey Trahan, the firm is intimate in size but broad in its scope. We engage in a collective questioning of how our process and work can contribute to the health of our ecologies, cities and economies. Each member of the Trahan team is an integral part of a collaborative process that enriches our company culture and improves the quality of our work.
Vincent Yee Foo LaiNCARB
As a Singaporean, born and raised in Malaysia, Vincent’s design foundations were manifold. He believes meaningful design oscillates between the vernacular and modern, presenting a sense of familiarity with a twist of novelty.
Vincent joined Trahan Architects with experience previously working on high profile institution projects, community pavilion, and mixed-use developments during his time in Adjaye Associates. The mantra of all community projects stems from the power of architecture or installation to give dignity back to the community. On a speculative level, he and his college friend Douglas have won multiple awards and recognitions, including the Forge Prize 2022, SARA|NY Kathy Firneis Student Scholarship, A+D Museum design awards 2021 for housing revitalization projects. He was also an invited speaker at the Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel and AISC Steel Conference Denver.
Vincent holds an M.Arch from UC Berkeley and a BA in Architecture from NUS Singapore, where he received the AKZO Nobel Gold medal for distinction in Architectural Design. In 2015, he was given a scholarship to attend ETH Zurich to investigate the role of Territory in Architecture. This foundation set forth a continuous interest to unpack the commonality of design between cultures, people, and geography.
